Nicolas Kourtellis, from Telefónica I+D Showcases Responsible AI Practices at SETN 2024

From September 11–13, 2024, Nicolas Kourtellis, a representative from Telefónica I+D and a partner in the ELASTIC project, participated in the SETN 2024 conference held in Athens, Greece. As part of the event, Nicolas was invited to deliver a keynote presentation at the Responsible AI workshop, where he focused on cutting-edge techniques for Responsible AI practices, including Federated Learning, Differential Privacy, and Fairness.

The keynote highlighted Telefónica’s contributions to the ELASTIC project, particularly within WP4 and its related activities. Nicolas detailed how these methodologies enable the development of distributed models that prioritize security, privacy, and fairness—key elements in achieving responsible AI solutions.

In addition to the keynote, the event provided an opportunity to engage with academic and industry participants on advancements in AI and solutions to challenges faced by the community, with a special emphasis on Greece’s contributions to the field. These interactions offered valuable insights and perspectives that will inform ongoing research in WP4, starting in December 2024.
