Project Objectives

ELASTIC is developing an open-source, cloud-native orchestration framework that improves security, performance, and flexibility in distributed computing environments. The project focuses on:

  • Executable Isolation Techniques
Improving how services run securely and efficiently across edge and cloud systems throughout their lifecycle.

  • 6G Edge Workload Orchestration
Enabling secure, reliable orchestration of IoT and other critical workloads close to where data is generated.

  • Secure Serverless FaaS Orchestration
Designing a secure and adaptable Function-as-a-Service framework that works across different systems and platforms.

  • Standardisation Support
Contributing to EU efforts on standardisation for 6G and secure digital services.

  • Confidential and Privacy-Preserving Execution
Applying confidential computing and privacy-enhancing technologies to protect data during processing.

Demonstrators

The project includes two demonstrators that apply ELASTIC’s technologies in real environments:

  • Smart Connected Factory of the Future
Shows how ELASTIC supports secure, efficient orchestration in industrial settings.

  • IT/OT Confidential Computing Platform
Demonstrates the secure migration of sensitive IT/OT workloads to the cloud using confidential computing.

Project Impact

ELASTIC contributes to improving the trustworthiness and performance of edge and cloud service orchestration by:

  • Supporting secure execution of services in diverse, distributed environments

  • Reducing latency and improving scalability for edge-based applications

  • Making tools and results available as open-source components

  • Aligning with European efforts toward secure and sovereign digital infrastructure

The project’s results will be relevant across sectors that rely on distributed data and computing—such as industry, mobility, energy, and health.
