Ari Keränen and Rajat Kandoi Showcase ELASTIC’s In-Network Data Fabric at IoT Security Hackathon

On May 21–22, 2024, Ari Keränen and Rajat Kandoi from ERF, a partner in the ELASTIC project, actively participated in the IRTF Thing-to-Thing Research Group (T2TRG) interim meeting and the IoT Security Hackathon, held in Paris, France. These events focused on advancing the understanding and application of IoT security across implementation, operational, and systems perspectives.

The T2TRG interim meeting provided a platform for discussing challenges and innovative approaches in IoT security. Ari and Rajat used this opportunity to publicly introduce the concept of the In-network Data Fabric, a key planned demonstrator of the ELASTIC project. The In-network Data Fabric aims to streamline and secure IoT data exchange through advanced networked systems, aligning with ELASTIC’s broader objectives.

As part of the hackathon, they demonstrated the first version of this concept and worked on further developing its Proof-of-Concept implementation. The collaborative nature of the hackathon allowed for real-time feedback from IoT security experts, fostering constructive dialogue around potential improvements and use cases for the In-network Data Fabric.

The feedback received during the event will play a significant role in refining the concept and implementation. Additionally, the event provided valuable visibility for the ELASTIC project within the IoT security community, bringing it to the attention of professionals and researchers with shared interests and expertise.

Participation in events like these underscores the ELASTIC project’s commitment to engaging with the IoT research and development community to ensure the relevance and impact of its demonstrators.
