Aalto University (Aalto) was established in 2010 through a merger of the Helsinki School of Economics, Helsinki University of Technology and the University of Art. Aalto University combines science and art with technology and business. The Aalto community is made up of 13 000 students, 400 professors and over 4 000 other faculty and staff. Aalto has systematically profiled its activities to seven key research areas that aim to provide research-based solutions and services to tackle grand societal challenges.
Among them are health & wellbeing, global business dynamics and materials & sustainable use of natural resources. In the Times Higher Education ranking (THE Engineering 2024), Aalto ranked as 101-125th overall, and was placed 40th of young universities in the world (THE Young University Ranking 2023). Role in the ELASTIC project:
In the ELASTIC project, Aalto University focuses on developing new research and teaching programs related to information security, networking, and cloud computing. They expose students to real-world industrial challenges while also providing industry partners access to new academic developments.
